OUTSIDE Collab 2022: A look inside residential sustainable landscapes + research plots at Sunbridge
Coming to life on 27,000 acres spanning Orange and Osceola counties, Sunbridge is a fresh approach to regional growth. A planned community that will be built around more than 13,000 acres of conservation land and thoughtfully mix homes, schools, parks, recreational amenities and vibrant employment centers. All tied together by large stretches of true Florida nature and an extensive trail network that will give people unprecedented access to oak forests, lakes, wetlands and waterways.
This video focuses on sustainable landscape plantings installed at the Weslynn Park Model Homes and the Basecamp Boundary Planting Research Plots. These landscapes were created in collaboration with members of the OUTSIDE Collaborative, the University of Florida, the University of Central Florida, Tavistock Development Company and the Sunbridge Stewardship District with the purpose of establishing a sustainable model for the landscaping at Sunbridge. These landscapes have led to the creation of the Sunbridge Community Landscape Standards and are now part of two research studies that are funded and underway to evaluate performance, ecological function and social perceptions of the sustainable landscapes installed at Sunbridge.
