Notable Project Submission: Overyonder Cay

The 72-acre island, known as Overyonder Cay, has been tastefully transformed into a dramatic showplace for stunning architectural design and cutting edge, green energy technology. The landscape design approach complies with the environmental report prepared, in conjunction with a harmonious design of natural hard and soft scapes throughout the island.

Villa 2, the villa blends into the native and natural landscape, sitting just off of the beach.

Island amenities include a 9 hole, par 3 synthetic turf golf course. Wind turbines combined with a solar array farm provide power for the Cay.

The landscape was a huge challenge. We used existing vegetation, while also importing native and non-native vegetation on an island with harsh conditions. It was also vital we strategically use water for irrigation purposes. Drought tolerant and Florida Friendly principles were applied within the plant palette selection process and design. Integrating on-island hardscapes and imported natural stone fused the landscape in creating this natural paradise.

Propelled by the concepts of human and natural renewal, 100% of the normal power needs are met by wind and solar energy. Reverse osmosis watermakers turn seawater into purified drinking water. Rainwater and runoff are collected into cisterns placed throughout the island for irrigation use.

To put the road in, there was a cut into the native limestone. Native rock was collected throughout the island and used as a veneer stone to eliminate the look of cut limestone into the grade.

Villa 3, this multi-tiered pool with floating steps provides cool water and breathtaking views out to sea.

OYC marina allows for a seaplane ramp to welcome guests visiting the Cay.
